How to Hear God’s Voice| Whisper Part 1: Scripture

About This Message

Speaker: David Reneau

Summary:
Have you ever felt like God is silent? We beg and plead for Him to speak, wondering why He doesn’t just show up in a clear, audible way like He did for the heroes of the Bible.

In this kickoff to our brand-new series, "Whisper," we look at the story of Elijah to discover God isn't silent, we're just not listening. We live in a world of noise that makes it hard to hear God speak.  Most of the time in a whisper.  Why? Because a whisper requires intimacy. It’s an invitation to get close.

This week, we explore the "Key of Keys"—the Bible. Scripture is the primary, authoritative voice of God that helps us discern every other "whisper" we hear. If you’ve ever felt like your Bible reading is stale or you’re struggling to find direction, this message will help you move from a "have to" to a "get to" mindset.

In this message, we discuss:

  • Why God whispers instead of shouting.

  • How to use Scripture as the litmus test for God’s will.

  • The "Kaleidoscopic" nature of the Word and how it reveals new patterns in different seasons of life.

  • Practical tools to "abide" in the Word, including the Bible Recap and the practice of Lectio Divina.

Scripture References:

  • 1 Kings 19:9-13

  • Exodus 4:10-12

  • John 15:7

  • 1 Corinthians 2:14

  • Romans 12:2
